DDD Bras – Where to find DDD Size Bras, and how to select them?
For most women, it can be a really difficult task to find DDD cup bras. Most department stores only have sizes from 30-36 with A, B and C cups. There are a limited number of manufacturers who make these bras and the distributors are limited.
There are few different types of plus size bras that you can use. Minimizers are bras designed to give firm support while making the breasts look smaller. These are ideal to go with a blouse, t-shirt or a dress. However, they may not be suitable for everyday use.
Molded bras can make you look thinner and younger by lifting up the breasts. But it gives a larger look than a minimizer. These are ideal for office or daily wear. The sports bra is another type that comes in DDD cup size.
Where to buy 34, 36, 38 DDD bras?
Since this is not a very common size, it can be hard to find places that sell them. These bras are available in boutique bra/lingerie shops, and especially in plus-size women’s clothing stores. But there could be times you can’t find the cup size labeled as ‘DDD’, read below to find the reason for this.
Are DDD Bras hard to find?
Some manufacturers commercially don’t label the cup sizes as DDD. Instead its labeled E or F. Often E is the same size as DD, and F is the same size as DDD. Sometimes its listed as DDD/E or DDD/F as well. However, many manufacturers have their own slight variations, therefore trying them on is the best way to know the right fit.
Here are few brands or shop names that sell these them:
- Enell
- Lane Bryant
- Federicks
- Nordstroms
- Bravissimo
Buying DDD Bras from overseas?
Be careful when you buy these bras from other countries (except the U.S.) as they may follow the metric measurements. The metric measurements of D, E, and F cup sizes are different from the ones in the U.S. If you’re purchasing from an online web store, always refer to an international size comparison chart before you order.
Guidelines to follow before you buy
- Find the right fit
Getting the right fit is essential when you select a bra. Make sure it fits firm, but not tightly around your breasts. If the breasts are trying to bulge out from the bra, you should probably try a large size.
After you wear the bra, the breasts should not ‘hang’ by the straps; instead a lot of support should be given by the cups and the chest band. - Get a sports bra
If you have large cup sizes and you’re planning on doing sports or a fitness program, you should get a sports bra as well. These are particularly designed to hold the breasts in place while minimizing unwanted movement. If you continuously practice sports with a regular bra, it can encourage ‘sagging’ and can damage the breast tissues because of the stress. - Get the right design
Even though these are underwear, it’s good to have a design you love. You could go for a plain-old white bra, or you can go for a cute and trendy bra with a lace. But think about the comfort before you consider the design.
What if you have uneven cup sizes?
Having slight differences in breasts is common among many women. If you’re having this issue, select the cup size of the large breast, and then you can add or remove some padding. For many women, this will not be an issue because there is only a slight difference. You can adjust the shoulder straps on the smaller side to get the right fit as well.
Maintenance for extended use
Though clothing items do not have expiry dates, it’s good to use common sense when washing and maintaining them.
When possible, always try to wash the bras by hand and drip-dry. Machine washing and tumble drying can reduce the lifetime and the form of the bra. Especially when it comes to large cup sizes, you should think about replacing them when the cups lose the ‘firmness’ to fully support the breasts.
